Masking/Protective Tape
Masking/Protective Tape
Masking tape’s main use is to denote areas that should not be painted, and is a comparatively fragile, easy-to-tear, weak adhesive tape. The difference between general purpose, contractor, and premium-grade masking tapes is in how strong the adhesion is, and how well it can stand up to forces such as temperature, especially in industrial or automotive uses where strong adhesion will be required to help stick to irregularly-shaped or curved surfaces.
Protective tapes are perfect for protecting surfaces against chipping, scratching, tearing, or otherwise being marked. Protective tapes are often used when an object is being shipped to ensure that it remains whole. Protective tape differs in material and thickness of the tape, depending on what needs to be protected.
